The trouble that cabinet makers took in selecting beautifully figured classically influenced panels for the backs of single and armchairs of this late 18th century period always astounds me.
Made from mahogany this pair of upholstered single chairs were made about 1795 and could be usefully placed in a bedroom or as reserves when more seating is required in the dining room.
